My novel “Talk Show Host” is based on true events that are only slightly exaggerated. On Friday nights at six we had this church style bingo contest on Cable Channel 8 in Pacifica, CA.
The show aired for perhaps six months with me on screen.
When this was first suggested by Grady Hesters and Maggie Ramirez, I said, “No. Not me. Nope. I don’t do tee vee. I don’t.”
This scene was recorded May 18, 1973, and is faithfully reproduced in the novel.
